This will come with thread on the loom - unfortunately it's not much good for more than 2-3 inches of "material". The main function I found for what was sent was to allow me to tie longer pieces on and pull them through. This also only comes with one metal rod to hold the input or output rolls - you need something on both - I found a small philips screwdriver that worked. I put on about 5 feet (1.5 meters) of thread and my 8 year old son has been working on making a scarf for himself - he's really enjoying it.
